Things are going great here. The three-day party that is New Years in Zuleta is at full-force. We had a phenomenal night last night, dancing, cooking, drinking, dancing, watching fireworks, and dancing. People from the community of Zuleta started filing into the square around 6pm. A number of small food vendors setup shop and there was lots of mingling. The evening’s festivities kicked off with a group of Zuleteño men in one quarter of the main courtyard launching enormous cray-paper hot air balloons – many of which caught fire mid-launch and careened through the square as huge flying flaming globes.
